The destination…Tea and cake time, or a healthy alternative?
At the end of the Spokes in Spring ride we were met by the wonderful scene of a village fete in the middle of the city, with art, crafts, vintage clothing stalls and cake making competitions. Perfect! With free cakes and tea for the riders, served in vintage cups and saucers, it was a lovely end to a great bicycle ride.
For those wanting a healthier alternative to tea and cake, however, Carolyn’s Pedal Cafe was on offer making human powered smoothies. With a blender attached to the rack on the back of the bicycle, Pol (of Cardiff Cycle Tours fame) added some much needed speed and energy. Working for your own smoothie – now that’s healthy!
Until next time…Cheers!

Great pics. Just sorry I missed it!
Next time we’ll get you – and hope you will be suitably attired!
Some pretty nice custom bikes, what do you ride if you don’t mind me asking? P.s will you be covering the naked cycle ride?
Hi. On the tweed rides I ride a 1969 Carlton which I picked up in an unridable state and have restored to a really beautiful machine, largely thanks to the frame restoration skills of Argos in Bristol. I’ve managed to keep most of the original parts, and had new wheels hand made at the Bike Shed in Cardiff using some old 1980s Mavic hubs I still had. It’s a lovely bicycle…
I was thinking of the covering the naked bike ride but was worried about a) me having to show all, and b) getting thumped for photographing people.
I’d be very happy to if I can get suitable protection for both a) and b) above!
