Sonia Rykiel Spring Summer 2012
Sonia Rykiel, like a number of fashion designers over the last few months, has been using the humble bicycle as part of their inspiration/ promotion of all things cool on the city streets. Sonia, who was briefly featured in the ‘Bill Cunningham New York’ film, is a Parisian-based fashion designer who in 1980 was voted one of the top 10 most elegant women in the world. And with a pedigree that includes a series of international successes and collaborations, who are we to disagree with her Spring/ Summer 2012 collection’s assertion that cycling is elegant and sophisticated!
As pretty as the outfits look, don’t think I’ll be swapping them for my padded shorts anytime soon

Why is she cycling in her underpants?
That’s a very good point. Sometime I do think the fashion world needs a ‘bicycle consultant’ to stop them using bicycles too much as props. Hmm…there’s an idea!
