Mark is another cyclist braving the evening rain. An English teacher, Mark was very distinctive riding his unique Strida bicycle.
Strida is a portable, belt-driven, folding bicycle with a distinctive ‘A’-shaped collapsible frame, designed by UK engineer and designer Mark Sanders. Emerging from Mark Sander’s Masters Degree at Imperial College London, and the Royal College of Art, the first model, Strida 1, was launched at Harrods department store in London and released in 1987. The bicycle is still very much in production today, although they remain a rare sight on UK streets.
Our Mark, pictured, picked his Strida up secondhand in Bristol, and has been using it to whiz around this city ever since. It’s great to see distinctive design on our streets.
